HOW TO ORDER
- Decide the finish samples you want (see below for a variety of close up finish sample choices, or create your own color combo)
- Choose type - Single Color or Multi Color (barnworn)
- What look do you want it? Brushed smoother or mooshed/smooshed texture for a little more interest, or a little of both? Choose Smoother, Textured, or a Little of Both
- Do you want the edges sanded? This will give a more distressed look, or do you want none of your base finish to show?
- Do you want Toner applied or left unToned? The toner is like a glazing stain that warms the paint color up – on cabinets and detail it will settle in the cracks and crevices for a lovely contrast. You can choose Toned, Untoned or a Little of Both (your sample will be taped in 1/2 and only half will be toned)
- Head to www.shop.fabfinisher.com and order your samples – its that easy!

ARE YOU READY TO USE SOME CAROMAL COLOURS PAINTS?
Caromal Colours are not carried in big stores. There are a handful of small country/ home furnishing stores through the US that may carry a limited selection, but if you purchase in a store that owner will receive credit not me. If this post was informative and helpful in your ‘how-to’ searches, a simple, but huge, way to thank me is this: if you decide to use these products, order them from Caromal Colour’s online store and use my code, PattyH in the coupon code area. This code is needed in order for me to receive credit for the order, if you forget to use it I lose. You don’t pay more by using my code – and if you order online you won’t pay tax (outside PA).

I would like to order the distressed samples. I have a dresser in maple. I want more of a distressed look. I like the wisteria, cobblestone and mustard. How would hey look with maple showing through? Any other suggestions?
How do I order?
Thank you.
Mickey
All three would look lovely, distressed, with the maple showing through. Do you have a plan for the dresser? Like where you plan on using it? All the colors are lovely, it just depends on what works with your decor. To order, you can email me your choices, or you can post them here, and I can then submit a paypal invoice to you. Sound good?

Hi
I would like to order some samples, but seem to be having problems getting them ordered. I have an 18yr old house with Oak cabinets. The doors are recessed with edges but the drawers are flat with no edges. I was told that a distressed look on flat drawers doesn’t look good. Any advice. If you feel it does, I would like to place an order for samples. I am going light and would like the wisteria, parchment, and cobblestone samples brushed smooth. I do not want any of my old color showing and want a distressed look but also I want it to look smooth and elegant. I do have Paypal, but again I keep getting an error when I try to place an order.
Thank you
Melinda Linss
Gosh I’m sorry Melinda, I’m not certain why the link was not working – I fixed it – it will take you to Paypal, if you try again…
I agree, the flat panels aren’t as ‘interesting’ as recessed panels, but they still complete the whole picture – flanking the interesting parts…. You sound like you are not interested in revealing the old color anyway – which works perfectly, since on a flat panel, there isnt an easy area to ‘reveal’….
As far as wanting a distressed look, I think maybe what you are wanting is the light brushed on your original cabs, lightly sanded (but not heavy reveal), then toned and wiped back so that it looks aged/antiqued. Does that sound right?

Patty,
I would like to buy 4 samples:
Mustard over red – Barnworn – light sanding
Mustard over Bayberry – Barnworn – light sanding
Mustard over wisteria – Barnworn – light sanding
Mustard brushed smooth with toner
These all will be painted over white wood.
Thanks so much.

Hi Cary,
Head to http://www.paypal.com and submit payment to pattyhenning@wowWay.com. Once I receive payment (and your address /mailing info will be on there) I will work up your samples then send you an email shipping notification.
The total will be 4 x 3 = 12 1 x 3 = 3 $15 + $4.80 shipping = $19.80
One thing to consider, if you are painting over white laminate cabinets, then the mustard, brushed smooth, dried, and lightly sanded, enough to reveal some ‘under’ areas will reveal the white from your cabs.
Do you mustard sample sanded/distressed at all?

hey patty!
I have been completely nervous to try this…but i am going to do it! I have formica cabinets that are actually fairly new. The previous owner of my house seemed to have quite sterile taste! I am goingto attempt to paint them wisteria…and probably go for the “smooshed” toner technique..prob not going to attempt to distress them any further as they are completely flat and not sure how to make that look good. Would you please explain to me the best way to “smoosh” the toner…and keep it even looking with all the cabinets !
Ill try and post pics for you!!
thanks!

oooh Liz, send me pictures, and in the mean time I am going to go put together that post on the counter top I did… then we’ll talk !

Patty,
I will be using your product on oak kitchen cabinets – desire a smooth finish without sanded edges.
Could you please send me the following samples:
Reclaim in Off White (with and without glaze)
Wisteria with and without toner
Parchment with and without toner
Is it possible to receive a sample of wisteria and parchment with the Tea Glaze?
Thank you so much for all your instructive posts – I am eager to get started on this project.
Marty
Hi Marty,
Absolutely I can work up a wisteria and parchment with tea glaze – let me ask you, do you want SEPARATE wood samples for EACH case ie) sample 1 reclaim offwhite glazed, sample 2 reclaim offwhite not glazed
or do you want one wood sample of reclaim offwhite, with 1/2 taped off and glazed – that way, once tape is pulled 1/2 will be glazed, 1/2 will be non glazed….. know what i mean? do you do paypal?
Patty,
Regarding the Reclaim products: Glazing 1/2 of the sample w/the antique glaze would great. Regarding the parchment and wisteria samples, using tea stain on 1/2 of the sample would work well. I do have a paypal account.
Marty
Marty,
I have the 5 samples done – cant ship them in the flat rate box (5 wont fit) so i need your mailing address to calc shipping. please email me at pattyhenning at wowway.com

I am intersted in some samples. Can you mix 2 colors? I like the cobblestone but would like it to be a touch more green but that bayerry is too bright so I thought about mixing them, maybe even throwing in a bit of chocolate to make it deeper then using that as single step finish with glaze. Let me know if this si an option and what your thoughts are. Thanks!
Hi Amanda,
Yes, you can mix colors with colors to make more colors – you can add tints as well (though it only takes a tiny bit so start small) – do you have a paint deck handy – BM or SW? If so , send me a few colors that you would like to be closer to – and I’ll see what I can come up with. i could also mail you off the foam plate that would have the finger swabbed swatch mix – so you could see the color before glazing.

Hi Patty:
Can you use this type of paint on the inside of a porch that has barnwood paneling? It has a rough finish to it, so I was just wondering. Also, would you recommend this for a wood floor and if not, what would you recommend?
Maria
Hi Maria,
Absolutely you could use it on barnwood paneling – both lines of paint, the Textured Basecoats and the Reclaim can be used interior or exterior – if your finish will be exposed to outside elements I’d probably topcoat it with an exterior topcoat for protection.
As well, both lines could be used on a wood floor, however I think the Reclaim would be better choice since it rolls on – it would be a much quicker and easier application than brushing on the Textured Basecoats. Again, I’d make sure to topcoat for extra protection –
Patty

I am still a little confused. If I do the reclaim on oak cabinets ..is it a smooth finish? I want as smooth as possible. Really don’t want the grain to show but not sure I can get around that. LOVE your site and wish you were closer to me !
yes Patti, the Reclaim is a smooth finish – if you texture roll it on, it will dry back and depending on how thick you roll it you may get a slight stippling – other pieces I’ve brushed the Reclaim and that works nicely too, though you will see some brush marks if you do that – but its a smooth finish. I’ve also rolled the first coat and brushed the second – there are a number of ways you can apply it – I find if you use the roller just dont saturate your head –

this is reclaim offwhite , sanded back big, then glazed -
this is a great picture of textured basecoat ant parchment, toned –

this is reclaim, off white , BRUSHED on a furniture piece, then glazed –

Hello Patty
I missed out on ordering on HSN today the Off-White 1 Gallon can of RECLAIM.
Can you tell me when your product will be back on HSN or can I purchase from you?
The product is always sold on HSN, however when they run out of stock, then don’t replenish as they run out – they get a huge order, then as it sells out its out until they get a big order in again. I sell the Reclaim on my online store, and we restock regularly. Only time we have to backorder is if the manufacturer literally runs out.
Patty— I have older oak and laminate cabinets I want to refinish for a butlers pantry and laundry room…. In the butlers pa ntry the counter top is granite. Black pearl….. This room is adjacent to my kitchen that has new cream cabinets with the same counter….. I didn’t have enough $ to do the butlers pantry so I need some advise on a color to work …… But be different. The cabinet style is recessed doors and flat drawer fronts. Can you send me some ideas ??? Feeling overwhelmed……
Hi Connie,
you could do almost anything – just depends on what else is going on around your spaces – i had earthy tones in my laundry room as it was also kindof like a mud room – the cobblestone tones…. anything goes with black and cream – how about black over top and cream underneath in the butler – and distress the crap out of it?
Patty, have you done anything in the new Versailles RECLAIM?
Not much Jamie – the new colors Versailles and Buttercreme debuted earlier this year, and I’ve only used them on sample cabinet doors so that the colors can be on display. I haven’t used either on anything else….
