A Small Caromal Coloured Chest Distressed Black and Cream…

Another lovely piece of furniture, Caromal’d by Janet.  This one –

I painted a small chest Peppercorn, Chipping Creme,  Parchment, no Toner and really liked the way it came out…

Did you catch that?  NO TONER.

Here is a smaller sample of Parchment over Peppercorn, untoned (obviously more distressed than her pretty chic chest)-

and here is a sample of Parchment over Chocolate, with Toner –

I could have wiped more of that Toner off this sample, by using a  wetter rag, but it still would have an antique cast to it.  When the Toner isn’t used over the Parchment (cream) or Wisteria (white) those colors will stay bright.

  1. I am very interested in trying these products. I have an oak hutch that I am wanting to give a old black finish to, like it has been painted many times with the oak showing through. Will you help me figure out what it is I need.

    Thank you,
    Pam

    • Pam, do you have a photo of your hutch? Not certain its size, to determine how much paint you might need, but to get what you are asking – a old black finish to, like it has been painted many times with the oak showing through – you would want to paint your piece with the Caromal Colours textured basecoat color Peppercorn (its black). Depending on how you apply, it will take 1-2 coats to cover, then you’d sand back to reveal the oak where you want it to show, then you’d brush on the Toner and wipe off. You could read this post https://fabulousfinishes.wordpress.com/2010/03/25/caromal-colour-painting-oak-cabinet-door-start-to-finish/ which shows how easy it is to apply. Good luck, and if you do order, dont forget to use my rep code – PattyH – if you dont use it, someone else will get credit… Thanks! Patty
