Corner Pine Hutch Gets Caromal Cobblestone Coloured….

I got an email from Judy last week –

Hi Patty!

Thanks for taking the time to talk me last week. Just thought I’d share my before and after pictures with you!  I was so excited when it arrived!  I chose to only use one of the colors (Cobblestone) with the toner.  I don’t know what I did wrong but I didn’t have enough toner to finish the inside of the bottom of the cabinet (am thankful for saving that for last!).  Total project working/painting time:  10 hours

This was my practice hutch as I have another one that is in desperate need of a makeover!  I will be ordering the Peppercorn for that one.  It is much larger than this one (I also didn’t do the back of this one and have about 1/5th of the jar leftover since I only did one coat).  How much would you recommend I need for this other one?  Also, can I use the Peppercorn to cover the hardware?  Will it flake off the hinges?

The paint was so thick that I kept a little container with paint and water (50/50) for the places I only needed the color not the texture.  This also came in handy when I applied the paint as I could dip the corner of my brush in it to help thin out the paint I was working with on the hutch.

I can only use your PattyH5 promo code once – sigh…   Thanks again!

After –

  • 1 quart Caromal Colours texture basecoat Cobblestone (4/5 used, covered in one coat)
  • 1  16 oz  Toner (needed more to tone inside of cabinet)
  • 10 hours labor

Mmmm Mmm Good!  Toned Cobblestone is one of my favorite colors, I’ve used it in several projects of my own. Judy’s cabinet reminds me of a bookcase unit I did, and how un-fun it was to paint all the sides to those shelves  🙂

I wonder what will go in this cabinet.  Is there glass in the top doors?  I can’t tell….  a decorative wire would really be different –

My client added it to a few of her cabinets –

She got hers from OutwaterRockler sells too

Anyway,   love your finished cabinet Judy!  Now on to your questions…

…  I will be ordering the Peppercorn for that one.  It is much larger than this one … How much would you recommend I need for this other one?   How much bigger?  The Peppercorn covers the best – I’d say you’d need at least a quart… Also, can I use the Peppercorn to cover the hardware?  Absolutely, you can paint right over hardware and it won’t flake off – can do same color, different color – whatever you choose. Will it flake off the hinges?  No.

The paint was so thick that I kept a little container with paint and water (50/50) for the places I only needed the color not the texture.  This also came in handy when I applied the paint as I could dip the corner of my brush in it to help thin out the paint I was working with on the hutch.  Smartly done!  Don’t be afraid to add a little water to the paints – just like you did – or to keep it in a seperate little dish to dip into…. its like magic.

I can only use your PattyH5 promo code once – sigh… Not sure why that was Judy… if your order is minimum $75 that code should work.  Anything under $75 use PattyH.

Send me pictures when you finish your Peppercorn piece – I love sharing everyone’s experiences…     thank you for sharing!
