A Fabulous Finishes Sign, A Postcard, And Some Bling.

Finally!

Green.   Green for Earth Friendly paints.  Green for not crowding the land fills with used cabinets and furniture – instead repurposing them.     Green for my eye color 🙂

I am having to learn how to be patient… that is difficult for me…  it felt like it took forever to get this sign installed –

Just got these post cards from Vista print as well  –

Couldn’t help myself – this restroom sign didn’t work for me.  I wanted to paint clothes on them… instead just added a few Swarovski’s…

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I Promised Someone The Caromal Painted Laminate Floor Update…

So here we go….

Start with a C L E A N  surface… especially if its a bathroom floor (yuk!).

My surface (not by choice) was a laminate  I inherited when I leased this office space –

I used this WHIZ roller  aka Textured Roller

and rolled on 2 coats of the Caromal Colours Textured Basecoat Peppercorn cut with a little bit of Parchment to soften the blackness.  This photo shows me applying layer two, a couple hours after layer one –

You’ll notice I didn’t tape the walls – my plan is to finish not only the floor but also the trimwork and walls, so I just went for it…

IIICK!  Toilet!   Notice I didn’t tape around that either  (figured hubby can razor blade it when its good and dry)

WARNING :  Do NOT try my sloppy ways at home – tape EVERYTHING!

Like my ‘foam plate’ tray?  I hate using paint trays – I feel like I waste my paint in them – my roller fits right in the mouth of the jar, then I offload it on the plate…

Rolling the last bit –

Base done –

I shot a variety of Krylon Webbing veins across the surface,  gold, white and silver, and then took some Parchment Textured Basecoat, cut it with alot of water (to create a wash) and sponge smooshed the cloudy paint water around the floor in a random fashion,  You could use a damp rag, dab the paint wash, and rag smooth it on the surface as well –

I know, scary right?   Don’t worry,   it all works out in the end – THATS the attitude you need to have –

The wash smooshing helps give dimension to the dark floor surface, and it makes the veins appear that they are deeper into the surface-

Then I brushed on the Caromal Toner and wiped it off.   I was bummed that it took most of my cloudiness away –

so I added more clouding, this time with a little more concentration of the Parchment paint  –

Then over that I used the Toner again (not before shooting a couple more veins again 🙂 )

Much better than the before

I rolled on a full strength Min wax oil based poly (not wipe on) for protection.  I still need to roll another coat on   –

In the mean time, I’ve painted the trim black, and dry brushed some Champagne metallic paint over top.  Now I need to find time to finish the walls!

A Lovely Caromal Cream Glazed Painted Piece For My Shop…

It started as this, tucked way in the back – the light piece…

and heres a before glimpse again, with the jar of Wisteria Caromal paint on it

Ah, now we can see it

I soapy ragged it down, then brushed on Caromal Colours Textured Basecoat Wisteria, which is a bright white-

Took about 3 coats to get the finish I was looking for – I wasn’t laying it on real thick.  Then I tried out some cool door knobs for hardware-

I sanded the piece down to distress,  using the palm sander –

Lastly, I brushed on Caromal’s Coffee Glaze and wiped it off, quick and easy, with a dry rag-

Don’t mind the spotty shadows that you see in my photos – something is up with my Nikon lens…

Then I went online and ordered the perfect stencil from Royal Design Studio, called Springtime in Paris .   I was working on the wall today, and when I went to the store to relieve my daytime help (thankfully I can rely on my hubster to fill in when I’m away painting walls and domes) I found my stencil had arrived!

Of course I couldn’t wait….

Again, took the Caromal Coffee Glaze and stenciled with it onto the doors-

 Splendide!

You can find me on these linky parties today –

Jordan Reclaims Her Kitchen Table With Off White Caromal Colours

The table was an existing oak but several years ago I painted it with latex linen white paint and sanded edges to make it look Shabby Chic

Before

Jordan used Offwhite Reclaim and the Antiquing Glaze to update her table.

I put 2 coats of the reclaim on my table last night.  I have 2 areas where one of my children wrote on the table with a black sharpie marker –  you can still see just a bit so I was going to go over that one more time.  Then, I should wait 3-5 days before putting on the glaze, right???

Right,  if you want to glaze the Reclaim, you want the paint to be nice and dry – they recommend 3-5 days.   Interesting on the sharpie marker too – they are known for haunting paint jobs –   maybe that would be one spot to sand before starting, or kilz it?

That’s a brand new table!  Thanks for sharing, Jordan – and let me know how the black kitchen is progressing  🙂
