“What Should I Bring To Paint At Your Workshop?”

I felt a post dedicated to this topic would be perfect,  one that will help potential workshop attendees with their decision,

What item should I bring to paint?

OPTION  1:

PAINT A CHAIR OR LIKE SIZE

3 hrs            EVENINGS            $80

Our studio, Fabulous Finishes, offers a 3 hour evening workshop titled  Bring a Chair or Like Item.    You bring an item from home, you pick a  finish that you like  –

Armoire finished using Caromal Colours textured basecoats – layering blue and parchment. Coffee table finished using Caromal Colours textured basecoats – Wisteria on base, Bayberry, Putty and Wisteria on top.

CeCe Caldwell Chalk and Clay Paints – Springhill Green over Blue Montana Sky and Dark Aging Wax

CeCe Caldwell Young Kansas Wheat and Dover White

Smoother refined silver finish

Textured metallic finish

and then we get you started painting your CHAIR or like size item.    What does ‘like size item’ mean?  It means a non-chair piece of furniture that has the equivalent amount of surface area to paint.

So,  find a CHAIR

Or find a NON CHAIR ,  item like one of these

even this end table would work,   it looks bigger, but there is less surface area to finish

All of the above items are perfect for the evening 3 hour  Paint a Chair or Like Size Item Workshop.   You must be able to carry your piece in yourself.

But what if you don’t HAVE a chair to refinish, or you don’t even LIKE chairs and won’t use one even if you gave it a new look?  And what if you don’t have a smaller item to paint but DO have a little larger piece?   Then you need to choose door number 2!

OPTION  2:

GET YOUR FULL PAINT ON

5 hrs            SATURDAYS           $155

Is the piece you want to paint more like this?

then you’ll want to sign up for our All Day Get Your Paint On Workshop, a 5 hour once a month Saturday from 10am – 3pm   $155.    This is the workshop where you can bring pieces like above (you must be able to carry it in yourself) , pick a great finish, and spend the day giving your piece a paint makeover.   This workshop takes a 1/2 hour break for lunch so we recommend you bringing a sack lunch.  We provide snacks and drinks.

There is a reason size matters – we want every attendee to walk away satisfied and excited about our paints, and happy with their freshly painted piece.   These are paints made easy,  but it’s still a learning session.  When people bring a piece larger than the requirements,  they feel rushed and a bit frazzled to get that big piece painted, and they lose out on detail and proper finesse.   The nice thing about working on a smaller item is, you can take your time, and appreciate the finish process…. and you have time to take in what others are working on, and see how their finish is coming along.

Here are some recent FINISHED pieces from our evening workshops-

Yes, all of those pieces were finished in our evening workshops.  Are you inspired to get some paint on your piece?    You can check out our WORKSHOP page, where we try to keep a current posting of scheduled classes.  If you have a group of 3 or more, call us to schedule your own class.  If that doesn’t work, give us a call or email us with your contact information and we’ll add you to our ‘call list’ – as workshops form we will call and add up to 8 attendees.

  1. Patty this is a great post. I’ll have to do something like this in the future. I can just imagine Hercules walking in next weekend carrying a 9 drawer mahogany dresser with one hand – lol!
