Some Before And After Painted Furniture Shares – Fabulous Finishes Workshops

As busy as our weeks can get, the best part of each is our Paint A Piece Workshops. It’s a weekly recharge for me, seeing what others can do with our paints in their hands.

The picture above, which shows the brown and creme is the true colors.  The 2 final photos below for some reason caught bad lighting and come off purple….

I am creating a very similar finish in my laundry room right now, I’ll be sharing that progress later.   I say all the time, I love the textured finishes, not for everywhere or everyone, but I think they’re a perfect fit for high use areas (entry/mudrooms)  and add an  instant old/worn/comfortable feel.

LOVE!

Before, upside down.  This one was too big and required an up charge.  Since then we discourage drop tables, even if its within 24 inches,  reason being the under table also needs to be finished as it can be seen – the result, too much surface to be covered and too hard to dry all at once –

Before – this decorative piece, little did we know, was a MAJOR BLEEDER!

DSC_3268

Plan was to do CeCe Caldwell Vintage White over CeCe Texas Prairie,  but as soon as the Texas Prairie brushed on it was turning pink. Not just spots, the  WHOLE LAYER OF PAINT!   Worst piece I’ve ever seen, bleed wise…..

So, we did an about face and chose a more colorful finish-  CeCe Caldwell Santa Fe Turquoise over that Texas Prairie, with Beautiful Antiquing Glaze over top

Two metallic finishes,  one smooth one textured –

Caromal  Colours Reclaim Mocha, then a Silver Blend Metallic, and Caromal Toner to warm it up-

DSC_4139

This one similiar, except its applied over Caromal’s textured brown – Chocolate, not the smoother Reclaim Mocha –  and then sanded through the metallic, to pop the texture, before Toning –

DSC_4142

I  ❤ ‘d this project – the table just screamed for SOMETHING on those peaks….  the lovely owner was originally planning on black- American Paint Company Lincoln’s Hat , but I nudged her into popping the peaks so she agreed and chose Navajo White for those  – sweeeeeeet!    I had a leftover piece of decorative trim, and go figure, it had EIGHT black and cream tassels hanging  –  JUST enough to dress up her table 🙂

DSC_4134 - Copy

She chose NOT to seal the table, instead she took her time and carefully finessed the finish –  had she Topcoated it the black would have come back to life –  remember, the chalk paints dry lighter –

A similar –  Cece Simply White over Caromal Colours Textured Basecoat Peppercorn, sanded back and sealed.    The stencil was actually Caromal Colours Textured Basecoat tinted with a little CeCe Santa Fe Turquoise – the textured paint is thicker and works great for creating thicker, dimensional stencils – this one was layed IN BETWEEN the 2 coats of paint, so when she sanded back the Simply White the turquoise stencil popped through –

Cool texture…  I’ll be taping another video this week – it will involve this  kind of finish – and glazing too!
