Resurection Sunday, New Life.

When I was a kid Easter was more about waking to an egg hunt, eating chocolates and jelly beans, and wearing a new hat and tights to church.    As an adult it changes,  I can’t get through Holy Week without kleenex in my purse.

I’ve been doing a bit of soul searching this last couple months…  without even realizing it, trying to figure out WHAT is going on in my life and how to have some semblance of order… do you ever get to a point where you are certain your priorities aren’t in order?

I dedicate a lot, lot, lot, and more, of my time and effort to my business.  Being self employed demands that, and I’m all in – at least I love what I do.   Equally important for me is building a customer base online, after all, part of my business consists of the revenue from outbound shipping to our customers that shop for their paint needs online.

My blog will be six years old this year , with almost 1200 posts to date.   Can you believe?  I’ve always loved sharing stories, ideas, photos.  Ask anyone that blogs and they’ll tell you-   creating a post takes time – some posts take several days to finish, depending on how many pictures I’m sharing.    Yes, creating posts takes commitment and time,   but in the end my time and efforts pay off, as I’ve met many online customers this way.

I want to continue posting and sharing,  and answering questions that my customers pose – but I need to draw the line – and please don’t be offended by this –   if I don’t set limits here, then I’ll be no good for anyone –

If you are here to get ideas, learn about products, techniques,  BUT purchase your product needs from somewhere else,  I hope my blog can help you.  Grab a cup of coffee, and peruse the posts, the categories or search box can help direct you to something more specific,  but YOU need to take YOUR time to read through the posts, because more than likely you will find your answers there.  If you can’t find what you are looking for,  then you really need to pose your questions to the retailer you purchased your paints from.

I can’t begin to tell you how many emails and calls I get from readers, asking simple questions, complex questions,  or design advice about a specific paint that they purchased from their local retailer.      WHY ARE YOU NOT ASKING THE RETAILER YOU ARE BUYING THE PAINTS FROM????  Sorry, but it is our responsibility, as retailers, to be educated and informed so we can confidently support our customer base.

While I’d LOVE to continue answering these questions,  I don’t have enough hours in my day  –    not without slighting the customers that do order from me,  and not without stealing the little bit of precious family time, and Patty time that I need in my life, in order to keep hold of my sanity.

If you have no desire to shop with us, but are still interested in asking for my design / product advise –  email me requesting a good time to hook up, via a phone consult, and we can schedule a session that works for both of us.  I would be happy to answer your questions, and  I charge for my time and expertise.    My standard rate is $100/hour, and will be charged in 15 minute increments.

So where have I been hiding the last month?   Store, workshops, getting through year end tax preparation,  starting to realize the many obligations required for a graduating senior,   one being a Spring Break to Riveria Maya, Mexico –

we went along, knocking out some marketing work, and spent our free time in a chair by the pool, dodging teenagers 🙂

It was nice to get away,  I came home with a horrible case of sun poisoning and am STILL itching like a mad woman.   I feel like someone has a voodoo doll of me and they’re poking pins in my upper back – it’s been over a week since I’ve been in the sun,  that irritation needs to go away!

Last week we rolled right into two workshops

and two more are coming up this week – it’s that time of year when people (and  tired furniture) come out hibernation  🙂    We’ve got three paint-a-piece workshops scheduled in May, two are sold out and the third almost…   I’ll be working this week on our summer schedule –
