Catching Up, and a Pink Chalk/Clay Painted Child Rocker

Goodness, where does one start when they’ve been away too long and there’s too much to talk about?  Do I share workshop wares?  What customers are doing?  Shop happenings?   Or all the project files, piling up with dust on them?

It  doesn’t help, abandoning ship for almost a month…  There was prom

and graduation from High School – it took my full attention, the 45 minutes before the ceremony started, to watch the jumbo-tron so I could catch her picture…

The last of High School soccer wrapped, a disappointing end, but thankfully for us we will still be able to watch her continue on at the collegiate level

All day orientations, family birthdays, Father’s Day,  and great news,  my hubby accepted a position with a different company and started his new journey a couple weeks ago.

Our son is home from college for the summer, I’ve been busy trying to get him familiar with our new web stuff, so he can do some work for us with  link corrections.  Our new shopping cart is up and running, but anytime you switch to new, you end up with old links that dead end when you click on them.   We have to work on redirecting  all of those dead links to live links, otherwise no one will be able to find us!   If you hit a dead link,  please be patient and know that we are working on it.

There will be another round of changes in the next week…. it’s the last phase, and time to move this blog over and merge it with our main store website.   I was told today by our web man that I will need to hold back on blogging while WordPress boxes up the life of my blog and zips it up in a traveling suitcase.  It will then make the move over to our new site, and unzip itself, setting up once again – the end goal being life continues on, and  you not noticing much change.   We’ve probably got a day or two before WordPress starts, so I need to get a few posts UP before they do.  No sure how long it will take them to transition my site – might be a couple days, maybe a week….

In the mean time, I need to  get a few posts together ASAP, and posted, before Word press starts to pack it up…

I’m sharing this cute little rocker that I painted pink a while back –  a PINK post in honor of my daughter growing up –  from child rocker to college dorm!

The pink is American Paint Company’s Powder Room, one first coat painted on the whole rocker.

Then the second coat was a mere wash of Powder Room, but also some American Paint Company Uncle Sam, their brightest white, watered down and brushed lightly over the top.

When everything was dry I gave it a light sanding, and then brushed on a coating of American Paint’s Topcoat Finish.   Topcoat Finish is APC’s alternative to wax, and offers harder protection for your painted finish – perfect for tots.

Lastly,  I used one of our Monahan Aged Papers,  ripped it into manageable sizes, and applied them to the back rails of the chair using Caromal’s Reclaim Sealer as my bonding agent –

Sweet, simple rocker.    It didn’t take long to find a new home  🙂

If you haven’t tried our the Aged Papers you must give them a go –  we’ve got over 200 papers available to chose from!   If you check out the site, we find it easiest to sort the papers by name – have fun looking!

We realize that people that WANT to create don’t have our cool paints offered in their neck of the woods – if this describes you, please do us a favor and check out our online store – we strive to offer everything we can that will make your creating an easy and fun process. Our customers from a far are just as important as our local customers – when you shop with us we will be committed to helping you every step of the way.
