Customer Paint Projects Round 2 – Amazing Oak Kitchen Updates!

Here comes Round 2 of clearing the slate for 2016,  sharing those projects sent in from our awesome customers .   What better way to inspire others right?

Kim shared this after photo of her painted kitchen cabinets,  White Reclaim and Pewter Reclaim on the island, a great combo!

Caroline shared an adorable stool she painted-

Just want to thank you for the tips and my order.  I used the textured base coat and tips from one of your videos to paint this stool for my dog rescue silent auction.  It went for $85, very excited. I used the micas and dark glaze too.  The dog is from a stencil…

and this fabulous before and after, using  Pewter Reclaim and our White Glaze
Here are pics of our kitchen redo of our house in Traverse City. Sure do love that Reclaim. I also used the Pewter in my bathroom. Love your store! Debbie Hollinger

I’m sure you will notice every last detail in this kitchen update, I know I did!   They took one big $$ item in a kitchen renovation – dated oak cabinets – and made them perfect, and current,  simply with the use of our paints and glazes…
trav_city_oak_kitchen_painted_black_2

trav_city_oak_kitchen_4_before

Great use of paint, love the color choice, paired with the rest of their updates – love the stone back splash,  the big farm sink, updated stainless appliances, adding clean hardware to the cabinets….
trav_city_oak_kitchen_painted_black_3

trav_city_oak_kitchen2

Notice they removed the trim molding on these glass door panels

trav_city_oak_kitchen3_before

resulting in a more modern look.  I love the fun pop of color inside

trav_city_oak_kitchen_painted_black_2

And a surprise element on the back of this island  – instead of painting they faced it with old weathered pallet boards!!!   This is a kitchen you could easily see in any current home magazine –  I would want to live here year round.

Jodi shared a pretty little jewel she created, using our Metallic Finish and Stenciling techniques – Mocha Reclaim, Metallic Blend and Toner –

Nicole transformed  her oak kitchen cabinets with Pebble reclaim

nicole_nightengale_painted_oak_after

a little dark but you can see the transition happening….

nicole_nightengale_painted_oak_cabinets_in_progress

Here’s a great angle, with better lighting –  I had to look back at the other photos, to see if the appliances or back splash had changed –  and they are the same…  Love how the updated cabinets bring the whole kitchen together, and the floor looks amazing  with it…

nicole_nightengale_painted_oak_after2

Nicole also used the paint to update her oak railing

nicole_nightengale_painted railing_before

nicole_nightengale_painted railing

She also painted a bedroom set that was still in great condition,  it just didn’t work as well into their cleaner, more transitional color scheme

nicole_nightengale_painted_armoire_before

She used our Licorice reclaim,  truly like day and night…

Susan from Mississippi shared:

My kitchen  just sold in a week. Everyone loved it, and people have tried to hire me to paint their kitchens.  I used the Textured Basecoat  Peppercorn and Paprika  – it was my first time using the paint 🙂

susanpolk_painted_stove_surround

you can’t tell in the picture above that the Peppercorn is layered over the Paprika, but in the picture below you can see it.

This is our Barnworn Finish, where you brush on Textured Basecoat color #1, let it dry ,  brush on Chipping Creme, let it dry, brush over it with Textured Basecoat color#2, let it dry,  sand and chip back to reveal color #1, then brush on a Toning Glaze .      Very cool, very custom –

Sheri sends-

Hi Patty!
You ladies helped me in your store with the kind of paints to get, so I thought you might like to see the finished project. (This was my very first piece to redo!)
I sanded and restained the top. For the rest, I used reclaim licorice and added pewter mica to the clear coat to give it a little sheen.

I painted each knob and pull with the reclaim as well and added pewter mica on top with the clear coat.

Gorgeous!

Wendy from Chesaning, Mi sent a lovely message:

…always hated the brass trim of the fireplace but, after replacing carpet with a bleached grey flooring and painting the living room walls grey with white trim, that fireplace trim had to go. I had one tablespoon of Reclaim Licorice and no time to wait for reordering but knowing how far that amazing paint goes, I opened my jar and got to work. After the Reclaim dried, I followed your blog on painting fireplace trim metallic to complement the new floor and modern look.

wendy_paint_fireplace

wend_fireplace_painting

Amazingly, I had enough of that tablespoon of Reclaim paint left in the jar to put a stencil on a small table to use in the ‘Provence’ style wedding and to finish a few frames! Your paint is truly fabulous and you are my inspiration.

Thank you Wendy!

Pat shared a few projects –  this chest that she finished using American Paint Peacock, and American Paint Dark Wax

pat_marsh_chest_before

and this adorable nightstand, I think maybe this one was American Paint Rushmore?

and this was a tiki pole at her friends cottage, that she painted new life into, using colors of American Paint that she had left over…   the before

and now, full of beach life!

AARRRGGHH….

Customer Paint Projects To Share – Round 1

Happy 2016!   I swear the older I’m getting the faster time seems to be flying…

I thought I’d start out this new year cleaning the slate of ‘Customers Projects that Need Sharing’.   It’s the best way to inspire others that might be a little hesitant trying our products.   And a shout out to all our amazing customers that are willing to share their projects – I really appreciate it!!

This customer used our Mocha Reclaim to paint right over her original PAINTED WHITE spindles.  Over one hundred of the,  no less! stairrailsafter1

Instead of investing some serious $$ to replace the white spindles for wrought iron, she thought she’d try painting them instead…

stairrailsafter2

The darker spindles changed the whole feel in her foyer, and she was thrilled.

Tamanna’s first project was this buffet – she acquired it for the great bones, not the color.  Her goal was black with a glossy topcoat.

black before

she used Reclaim Licorice, and a glossy wipe on poly,  and LOVED its ease of use.

black

She was back in this past weekend, to search for the perfect grey color for her kitchen cabinets.  She asked about painting the granite around two fireplaces, and went home and used one coat of her leftover Reclaim Licorice on both!

How’s this for a simple update?

Another client, came in this past weekend – back to find a color to paint her kitchen island cabinets.   She said,  “Let me show you  – I painted my kitchen with with your paints and love how it turned out…”   and she pulled up photos on her phone:

She used White Reclaim and our Coffee Glaze, and finished the update with new hardware

kitaf1

What a difference!!  CHANGE

kitaf5

She’s going darker on the island to give it a whole different feel –

kitaf2

Leah transformed her armoire using our paints –

leah_armoire_before

which paint, I’m not QUITE sure – maybe American Paint? Cottage Paint? Caromal?

leah_armoire_after

It doesn’t matter- what matters is it looks pretty darn nice on that dark wood floor – she used one of our Stencils and repeated it down the sides, even added a little Swarovski Crystal Bling!

leah_armoire_after_closeup_stencil

Diane gave this kitchen a great new feel, taking the original cabinets to a Sage Greenreclaim_sage_cabinets

I wish we had the befores for this kitchen,  stained cabinets with a stained floor was probably ALOT of stained wood which,  isn’t a bad thing, but look how lovely this sage is against the floor now?

reclaim_sage_kitchen_transformation

Hardware was a new addition, as well as the decorative ‘feet’ tucked in next to the toekick…

sage_cabinets_reclaim_paint_fabulous_finishes

You can find many varieties online, just search on ‘wood cabinet feet’

LOL,  these are REALLY some feet to add 🙂

Jackie shared two of her projects, both crafted using our Aged Papers and Botanical Paints ….  this one looks like Botanical Iris, and the paper is the blue damask

jackie 2

and this lovely looks to be Textured Basecoat Peppercorn with Botanical Dandelion over it, sanded back for reveal.  The Aged Paper is one of the botanical Sunflower prints.   Our paper order arrives this week, and due in are new Valentine and Easter prints – can’t wait to add those to the store –

jackie

Sue shared some of her canvas art, created using Textured Basecoat Peppercorn, The Aged Papers, American Paint Co. chalk and clay paints and American Paint Co. Dark Wax

sue 1

How cool are these?  Love her creativity and play on texture …

sue 2

including the use of Stencils to created raised relief.  We offer a great selection of stencils, and make a point to note which ones are better suited for building relief…

sue 3

Some of our large stencils may seem a little pricey,  but they are worth the investment if you plan on finishing more than one project.  Most of our large ones are thick and extra sturdy, allowing them to be used and cleaned over and over again.  The larger size also means a more extensive pattern, which can be used in many ways – stack them for an allover effect, use the whole design or just a few parts of it –

sue 4

For great tips and step by step on using the Aged Papers, you can head to our DIY Video Page and click on Episode 5 “How To Apply Aged Papers to Furniture”.

I am going to break this into several posts, that way it won’t run on forever, and I can get this part live.   I’ve committed to getting all the shares posted, so Round 2 will be up this week as well.

Workshop Creations – Our Customers Are Fabulous!

It’s been quiet around here…   we’re in the ‘TRANSITION’ stage right now, meaning,  everything on this blog, from day one until the last post before this, has been bundled up and moved over to it’s ‘new home’.   The ‘NEW HOME’ is technically  fabfinisher.com, my website, which presently POINTS to this blog  (fabulousfinishes.wordpress.com).

It’s confusing to say the least, I know…

When the dust settles FABFINISHER.com will be our official site, housing not only this blog,  but also our online store (store.fabfinisher.com),  our free video library,  and workshop schedule.  Everything we do will be living in the same house 🙂

It was suggested that I not post until the behind scenes stuff is done, but  it’s taking too long.   Instead of waiting it out, the impatient me chooses to post, and when our NEW site launches I’ll just have to manually move it over there too.  Anyway,  just thought I’d share all that mumble jumble in case you’re wondering what the heck is going on over here!

How about some of our workshopping action, to celebrate our new online WORKSHOP EVENTS SCHEDULE?
