Carol Caromal Colour Paints A Secretary And Buffet In A Soft Blue…

Hey Patty,

Here is a picture of the secretary and buffet I painted

I combined (Caromal Colours Textured Basecoats) Colonial Blue and Parchment to come up with this color.

I was introduced to this paint at the Country Living Fair in Atlanta 2 years ago and only painted a few small pieces. Now that I have done these two pieces I am hooked. I have bought my last 2 orders from you and appreciate the little specials you include in the order. I also painted the little cabinet below the buffet with the parchment.

Carol

Aren’t these lovely pieces?  It’s great to hear that you’re making these paints work for you –  mix them, blend them, experiment.    Painting really CAN be fun!   Thanks  for sharing :)

Jessica ROCKS Her OAK Kitchen Cabinets With A No Sanding No Priming Paint Finish!

Hello Patty,

It has been a while now but I wanted to let you know that I do have some before and after photos for you of my kitchen.  I think it turned out great!

The before  shows the old flooring and an old hutch they built them selves…

There was no pantry in the kitchen so we tore out the hutch and had one built to have the same door styles and room for a microwave .   We also extended the counter to accommodate 2 small stools for extra seating. It looks as though they started to paint the cabinets at one point but never finished because the top was off white and the bottom oak.

I ended up getting everything done with the 1 gallon of Reclaim Mocha except the inside of the bottom cabinets so I need to order a small (quart I think) from you plus another 2 quarts of a different color for my laundry room.  Now that the weather is nice, I can start my projects up again!

Thanks for letting me share your project, Jessica –  this will be a great inspiration for others….

The REVEAL

See what I mean?

What a fabulous kitchen!   I think it turned leaps and bounds beyond just great, don’t you think?

As I tell so many that visit me here and in my store, refinishing your cabinets IS doable – and the most affordable way you’ll find to update your space.

New CeCe Colors Arrive At Fabulous Finishes… Come And Get Em!!

Thursday was a fun day-   I picked up my CeCe paint order ‘in route’ –  Jill, from Bungalow 47, my distributor,  was on her way to the airport, which was kindof 1/2 way from her to me, so she was was kind enough to haul my paint booty with her – we did a quick swap off the freeway in a gas station parking lot, and just like that I was on my way home with yummy paints.

Even funner?  On the way home I plugged ‘estate sales local’ into my iphone and tracked a couple sales on the way home – brilliant!    I had to be back to the store by 2pm, to relieve my wonderful helper Kathy, so I had game face on and focused on quick in and out…

Grabbed this sweet black leather ottoman, in excellent condition

Everything in photo for sale – ottoman $159, crackle frame matted art $54.99, chair $35, table $55 (accessories for sale too but cant recall prices)

Hutch $899, Resin angel gold patina $29.99

these 2  have great potential – I’m certain one or both will be antique white…

an antique coffee table, and quaint little vanity chair…

Love him….

Vintage jointed horse on stand, $64.99

and this…   it called to me  from across the room…

Originally, I thought “Oh my gosh, perfect just like this!” … but then I wondered if painting it wouldn’t be a smarter option…

No pain, no gain…

I have great things in store for you, just wait…

Back at the store, we unload the paint…   new colors – Ce Ce Pickerington Violet

it’s so pretty, sold two first day…

Vermont Slate, then glue, then Pickerington Violet, then Clear Wax…

Four new colors – all next to Simply White –

top left Pickerington Violet, top right Texas Prairie, bottom left Mississippi Mud, bottom right California Gold

Texas Prairie, with clear wax

Mississippi Mud with clear wax

California Gold with clear wax

More examples, with waxes…

Left Pickerington Violet over Hershey Brown, with Dark Wax, Right Texas Prairie over Hershey Brown, left side Light Aging right side Dark Aging Wax

Left side Mississippi Mud over Hershey Brown with Dark Wax, right side California Gold over Vermont Slate with Dark Wax

I gotta say, originally when I brushed out the California Gold I was not thrilled – I’m not a buttery color gal…. but this sample, over the Slate, with dark wax, is yummy… even my finisher pal Kathy, when she came in and saw this, grabbed a quart of California Gold…

My updated CeCe wall-   of course, more colors to come :)

A Hutch Transformed With CeCe Caldwell Smoky Mountain Gray…

Back when I was a kid,  we took a trip to the Smoky Mountains… there is a photo similar to this one, except we’re posing in front of the fence like tourons…

and you thought I was pulling your  leg :)   That’s me in the middle smiling at my brother

Little did I know, years later I’d be painting a piece of furniture in a color named Smoky Mountain Gray

I started with this lovely gem – such a pretty piece  to paint, and in excellent condition

The drawers were lined with Detroit Newspapers from 1979.  Good for the future owner because the inside drawers are like new

My inspiration?   a picture frame finish that I created for my mom

I started with a base of Reclaim Licorice black

added glue in areas, as I went along, and painted over it all with the CeCe Caldwell Smoky Mountain

This paint is easy to brush out, thick but creamy and levels out just enough so you’re not left with heavy brushy marks…  and it goes far.  One coat covered this piece and I only used not even 1/3 of the can

After a very light sand I aged and sealed it with a Liberon Medium Oak Wax

and for an extra custom punch, I gave the top an animal hide texture in a warm silver metallic

My new buddy John, owner at Profaux, told me to sell it for no less than $1500…

and he said I should sign it.  After all,  it’s one of a kind.  Custom…

I haven’t signed it.  Yet.

For Sale  $899
