New European Flair Stencil Designs Have Arrived!

This post goes hand in hand with my next, discussing  painted finishes using  stencils and plaster to create relief.

These are the new stencil design we recently added:  (click on a design if you want more details)

I’m the one that has a hard time NOT adding a stencil somewhere on that piece of furniture I’m refinishing…

I favor designs like these above – ones that can be repeated for an allover effect, stacked, even split apart, using portions of the whole,  and I like to make sure the stencils are thick enough to use with thicker mediums like plaster and stone products (again one of my favorite to-dos)

A stencil has to be able to withstand multiple uses and clean up, without breaking down, damaged edges etc.

My advise to anyone new to stenciling ?

CLEAN IT AS SOON AS YOU USE IT

If you let the stencil sit for a bit after you use it, you will find it much harder to clean, especially if you are stenciling with paints or plasters.    I give it a fast rinse, then lay it on a flat surface and scrub with a fat brush and Deep Green

Deep Green is a super concentrated cleaner/stain remover that can be used full strength (how I like) or diluted for a daily cleaner.   Full strength its quite powerful – it made quite a difference in my grungy work deep sink when I used it full strength on a brush –

With my stencils, I use my brush to grab some cleaner then swirl away on the dirty stencil …

laying  it on a flat surface keeps from bending the stencil medium

Rinse your brush good, and your stencil, and lay it flat to dry.

You can find stencils, cleaners, and all my favorite chalk and clay and plaster type paints,  finishes, glazes, sealers at our online store  www.fabfinisher.com

If you need brushes we carry those as well, in all shapes and sizes.  Our favorite round brush prices will knock your socks off 🙂

Enjoy your week,

hopefully filled with spring-like weather!
