Outdoor Decor Ideas – Taking Caromal Colours Outside…

Carol and Al Kemery, owners of Caromal Colours, recently shared some fun project ideas for taking Caromal Colours outside the house

Watch Carol’s appearance on the 10! Philadelphia News Show as she shows you how to brighten your garden with color and add a touch of elegance or whimsy with some simple designs and the Textured Basecoats.  Don’t be afraid to paint wahtever you have around your house or garage, remember the Basecoats stick to just about any surface!  So have fun – just remember to topcoat your pieces to protect them from the elements.  Use your favorite polyurethane or their personal favorite, Liberon Wax.

Caromal Colours Parchment Kitchen Makeover

Nancy, from Loogootee, Indiana,   contacted me back in January and wanted to know how to go about purchasing sample colors of the textured basecoat paints.

A month later I heard back-

I recently got samples of your paint colors with and without toner. Can I get samples of your colors with the different color combinations? I love your paint…. I’m going to paint my island in my kitchen before I paint my oak cabinets  …   I’m thinking about painting my cabinets with the parchment over the chocolate with just a little distressing…

Today, one my favorite kinds of emails arrived – ones with pictures attached!  With a note –

I’ve sent you some pictures of my kitchen cabinets and my hutch.  My kitchen cabinets were all oak and very dated.

I used the chocolate as the undercoat and then I used the parchment over that. I did a lot of sanding as I like mine to look really old. I used the toner and then a sealer. I went for the heavy texture.  I decided to replace the hinges and the knobs instead of painting over them.

My hutch was all oak too.  I didn’t take before pictures of that.  I used black as the undercoat and then mustard on top of that.  I did a lot of sanding on that too.  I left a lot of toner on instead of wiping it off I just dabbed it to get the excess off, and used a sealer-

As you can see I like my furniture to look really old. The older the better.  I’m going to replace the glass on my hutch at some point with something old and rusty. I just haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.   I really love this paint. I probably wouldn’t have done this if I would have had to sand and prime first…

What a difference!  Your oak cabinets no longer look ‘tired’, and I love the new hardware.   I also am a fan of using color on your hutch.   Thank you Nancy, for sharing not only the pictures but also your experience with Caromal Colours Textured Basecoat Paints –  I’m sure they will be a great inspiration to others!
